THE FEHNMARBELT TUNNEL

MEP Marianne Vind kindly invites you to a seminar presenting the world’s longest immersed tunnel and its impact on European mobility.

The 18 kilometre long Fehmarnbelt tunnel is now under construction between Denmark and Germany across the Fehmarnbelt.

When the Fehmarnbelt tunnel is completed, the journey through the tunnel will take 7 minutes by train or 10 minutes by car. Train passengers and freight trains passing through Denmark will save a 160km detour and thus reduce emissions from traffic.

The Fehmarnbelt tunnel will operate on a CO2-neutral basis, run on 100 percent green energy and use energy-efficient technology.

The Fehmarnbelt tunnel and railway are an important part of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean Core Network Corridor. The project receives co-financing from the EUunder the framework of its CEF Programme.

The Fehmarnbelt tunnel project is participating in “The Track to a successful TEN-T” exhibition in the European Parliament 11-14 October 2022.

Please join us for a presentation of this unique project and a discussion of its impact on European mobility and the green transition of freight transport. Drinks & snacks are served.

International Supply Chain Conference 2022

Supply Chains matter!

The International Supply Chain Congress has been the networking event for all top executives in logistics and supply chain management for decades. The international community meets annually in Berlin to exchange knowledge and experiences, to learn from the best and to define the logistics agenda for the coming years: More than 3,000 participants from over 40 nations come together in real and digital terms. The focus is on personal contact as well as the top-class specialist presentations, workshops and the presence of numerous companies in the accompanying exhibition. A highlight each year during the congress is also the presentation of the German Logistics Award, which honors innovations in the field of supply chain management and logistics.

At the congress, all important topics, trends and developments in the economic sector such as digitalization, new technologies, sustainability, artificial intelligence, intralogistics, circular economy, cyber security or even political framework conditions such as the Supply Chain Act will be addressed and discussed in plenary lectures and specialist sequences.

Registration for the congress is now open.

In 2022, the economic sector of logistics and thus also the International Supply Chain Congress are more relevant than ever. In two years of the pandemic, it has become clear to many people, even outside the logistics sector, what a significant contribution logistics makes to security of supply. Disruptions in supply chains have been prominently featured in the media. And even though there were massive delays and delivery problems for certain products, the dramatic scenarios of empty shelves and gas stations with no fuel did not materialize at all – impressive proof of the efficiency of logistics even and especially in times of crisis. Despite all adversity, logistics players have created solutions every day and demonstrated their systemic relevance. Logistics is modern, innovative and attractive – also as an employer. Logistics should also show this. BVL has therefore chosen “Supply Chains matter!” as its annual and congress motto in order to underline the relevance and solution competence of the economic sector with ‘healthy’ self-confidence. We look forward to sending this signal, especially from the International Supply Chain Congress in October, together with you from Berlin.

Gigafactory Europe – ELA Leadership Workshop 25th May

ELA Leadership Workshop 2022 25th May

Gigafactory Europe – European Supply Chain Managers team up to design new solutions to the pandemic and political crisis

The shock brought by the COVID 19 pandemics on global supply chains was evident : longer transit time from the Far East, unbalanced distribution of containers on the globe, unprecedented rise in ocean freight costs as well as the risk of single and concentrated sourcing have been affecting the operations of  businesses in Europe.

The Russian-Ukrainian crisis is bringing further uncertainty and takes some options off the table.

ELA would like to pick up the challenge and contribute to supporting the European businesses by pooling ideas and practices of the Supply Chain Community to lay the framework and identify options to make European and global supply chains more robust, flexible and resilient.

You are invited to join the ELA leadership workshop where managers form all the ELA member countries will meet to design together the Gigafactory Europe of tomorrow.

ELA Doctorate Workshop 2022, June 29 – July 02 2022 Copenhagen (Denmark)

The twenty-sixth ELA Doctorate Workshop will take place in Copenhagen (Denmark) from June 29th until July 02 nd2022 at Copenhagen Business School – CBS.

I would like to invite you to propose one doctoral student from your university, who could contribute to this workshop with an interesting doctoral research project within logistics. All fields of logistics in the broadest sense are of interest.

The nominated student is requested to prepare a three-page proposal indicating: the title of the research project, name, affiliation, contact details and email address, the stage of the research project (beginning, middle, end) and a brief description of the project (research objectives, methodology, expected results, list of references, etc.) and submit it before March 18th, 2022.

The application should also include a short letter of recommendation from the main PhD supervisor or Head of the Department (this letter can follow after the proposal, if necessary). More information about ELA and the previous doctorate workshops can be found at the homepage of TU Darmstadt (Supply Chain and Network Management http://www.scnm.tu-darmstadt.de – on the right side click on ELA Logistics Association). It is also possible to follows us on Facebook

The ELA Research Committee will evaluate the submitted proposal and invite about 20 doctoral students to participate in the workshop. All the students have to prepare a formal presentation of their project. The chairman and 3 other experienced logistics professors from Europe will participate as advisors and moderators during the workshop. The Kuehne Foundation is the sponsor of the workshop and it will cover accommodation and meals expenses for all the invited doctoral students. Travel costs have to be paid by the participants themselves. The ELA doctorate workshop is highly recommended. It is an excellent opportunity for doctoral students from all over Europe to meet and establish a valuable network. Students can get 3 ECTS.

Please send the proposal as an attached document in Word to the chairman of the workshop:
