Introducing the Finalists!

The Finalists of the 2025 ELA Awards

After tough deliberations, the ELA Awards jury have announced the following finalists, and the winner will be announced during the ELA Awards event organised by ELA in collaboration with VNL – Austria and ASCII on February 19th in Vienna Austria.

They are listed below in an alphabetical order.

BLOWIND  submitted by CEL Spain

Project “Blowind Superconducting Megawatt (3 MW) Charging System”

The aim of Blowind is to design and develop high-power charger that enable the rapid recharging of heavy vehicles, such as road transport, busses and trucks, as well as electric ships and aircraft. In doing so, we will contribute to significantly reducing the environmental carbon footprint by enabling the energy transition in this type of vehicle. To do so, we use disruptive technology to increase operational efficiency and reduce greenhouse emissions, as well as other harmful emissions in transport.

BMW Motoren GmbH submitted by VNL Austria

Project “Flexible. Innovative. Effective. The “Logistics Compass” at the BMW Group Steyr

-maximum cost efficiency due to high competitive environment.                             – maximum flexibility due to dynamic demands, market restrictions and volatile supply chains                                                 – maximum use of digital tools & autonomous industrial trucks                      – redefinition of the strategic thrusts for logistics and alignment of transformation projects accordingly                                      – logistics is more than physical processing.                                                     – need to expand the focus on control processes and data

DACHSER SE (together with Fraunhofer IML)  submitted by BVL Germany

Project “DACHSER Future Terminal – Innovative digital twin @ILO for high-performance groupage logistics”

In a joint research project between DACHSER and Fraunhofer IML, a real-time digital twin of all packages, assets, and processes was created for the first time for the transit terminals of Dachser’s European groupage network. @ILO stands for “Advanced Indoor Localization and Operations” and describes a technology that did not previously exist in this form on the market and represents a new level of transparency in groupage logistics.
Main objectives: Optimization of current process quality, process times and process costs, and creation of a comprehensive data basis for the future use of technologies such as AI and autonomous vehicles for further process optimization.
Since winning the German Logistics Award 2023, @ILO has been further developed and its rollout in the European network has been driven forward. In addition, @ILO SmartKit, a solution for DACHSER customers, has been developed with Fraunhofer IML.

Pošta Slovenije d.o.o, and Solvesall d.o.o. submitted by SLA Slovenia

Project “Optimization of delivery points”

The project represents an advanced digital solution by Pošta Slovenije d.o.o, for the optimization of delivery districts. In cooperation with a technological partner Solvesall, the company developed a desktop application for planning and a mobile application for mail carriers, enabling GPS tracking, data capture, and real-time updating of delivery point attributes directly in the field. The new solution eliminates manual processes, allows quick adaptation to changes in the postal and logistics market, and reduces costs, driven kilometers, and environmental impact. The project represents an important step in the digitalization of business processes, strenghtening the long-term competitiveness of Pošta Slovenije d.o.o. while also enhancing the user experience and improving working conditions for employees.

SOK submitted by LOGY, Finland

Project “S-Kaupat robot deliveries”

To develop automated food deliveries for S-kaupat customers enhancing the customer experience, efficiency and sustainability of the food supply chain. Finland’s unique challenges – suburban sprawl, extreme weathers, and a digitally advanced consumer base – demanded a future-proof solution. By introducing habit-forming, delight-driven automation, our goal wasn’t to make deliveries faster; we wanted to change how people shop.

Instead of focusing only on speed like traditional quick commerce, we aimed to create a more engaging, scalable, and sustainable solution – one that would fit seamlessly into people’s lives while overcoming Finland’s unique logistical and weather challenges.

Strauss GmbH & Co. KG submitted by BVL, Germany

Project “LOGISTICS NEXT LEVEL”

LOGISTICS NEXT LEVEL is Strauss’ answer to the question: How can genuine logistics transformation be achieved? It represents a comprehensive, self-financed Brownfield transformation -technologically pioneering, ecologically thoughtful, and socially responsible. AI, cognitive robotics, and smart automation from the very heart of the new dc. At its core is a logistics ecosystem that learns, understands, anticipates, and actively supports the workforce – empowering and relieving its human operators.
