The European Logistics Association (ELA) was established in 1984 in Switzerland by eleven logistics organizations from seven European countries.

The decision of the companies to unite into an association was not accidental: logistics by the mid-80s had been recognized as one of the key factors of the competitive advantages of commercial activities, and during this period European companies experienced strong competition from the companies of the United States and Japan.

Currently, the headquarters of ELA is located in Belgium. This organization is an internationally recognized platform for the experience exchange between approximately 100,000 European professional logisticians. Today ELA united 30 national logistic associations from Central and Eastern Europe, including the National Logistics Association of Russia. The latter includes the Siberian Logistic Association, based in Krasnoyarsk leaded by the head of the Logistics Department of the Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University, Doctor of Economics, corresponding member of the Russian Engineering Academy Valery Lukinykh.

ELA is engaged in the training of logistics specialists, the development of pan-European standards in logistics, the awarding of the qualification of logistic professional, the organization of conferences and seminars to exchange the knowledge and experience of logisticians from different countries of Europe. ELA is working to standardize logistics terminology in all European languages, which is based on the English logistics terminology.

The Department of Logistics was established in Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University in 2011. Annually the department organizes international scientific and practical conferences “Logistics - Eurasian Bridge” in Krasnoyarsk.

In 2016, the Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University became the first and by now the only university in Russia that received accreditation for the right to issue diplomas of the European Logistic Association under the program “Candidate for Senior Logistic” to its graduates. The holders of these diplomas have advantages in applying for work in companies of the European Union countries, as well as other regions of the world.
